I have owned the iPhone 16 Pro since the first day it went on sale, September 20, 2024. Even though online stores ask you to leave a review not even 2 days after you received the product, my opinion is that a relevant review is after have you tested the product you received for a while? So, after a month and a half I decided to write a review on eMAG about how good the iPhone 16 Pro battery is. Review that was not approved, but which you can find below:
The iPhone 16 Pro battery degrades very quickly
My eMAG iPhone 16 Pro review is below:
I received the product on September 20, 2024, having pre-ordered within minutes of it being on sale. eMAG services are impeccable. I went to the eMAG showroom and picked up the product.
As for the device I am far from satisfied. In addition to the fact that I took it upon myself to buy a model that did not have many additional features compared to the iPhone 14 Pro that I owned at the time, I find that the battery performance is absolutely abysmal.
I noticed from the first days that the battery life is much better than the one offered by the iPhone 14 Pro after almost 2 years of use. I put it down to background data updates from iCloud (I have a 2TB subscription and quite a few photos, videos, messages and notes synced) and hoped that things would get better over time. Normally, the iPhone 16 Pro are devices with the largest battery capacity that Apple has brought to an iPhone. The 3,582 mAh capacity, 9.4% higher than the one present on the iPhone 15 Pro (3,274 mAh), should have guaranteed better autonomy and longer life. It seems that neither autonomy nor longer life ensures.
After 48 days of moderate use, the maximum energy storage capacity dropped to 98% at just 35 charge cycles (optimized!). Apple estimates that an iPhone battery will retain about 80% of its capacity after 500 charge cycles. At the current rate the iPhone 16 Pro could reach 80% capacity in less than 14 months and about 310 charge cycles. Much below expectations!
I specify that I am not the type of person to sit with the phone in my hand all day (as can be seen from the attached images). I don't use it for in-car navigation, social media, gaming, or other apps that could have caused this rapid battery degradation. I don't even use the Always On Display function or play video content.
As for the other features, I can say that they are the same as the previous models, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro. Good sound, captures quality photos and videos, iOS 18 runs very well without interruptions. I don't know what to say about the performance
I couldn't get used to the Camera Control button and I think it's more of an Apple marketing thing than reliability.
Final review.
Related: Why does the iPhone 15 battery heat up and drain quickly?
I don't know why eMAG didn't approve the review above, because the iPhone 16 Pro battery really is a real problem, reported by a lot of users. Probably because I only gave one star, but that's it. I can't give more than one star to a product that still has a considerable price tag and is made by a company that promises high standards. I think that customers also have the right to be demanding, directly proportional to the prices of the products. If I bought a phone for 200 Euros, then I alone would not have a problem that the battery lasts much less than specified by a Xi manufacturer.
